De man was reeds interim CEO sinds 13/05/2020 en heeft zijn pluimen verdiend na een puike prestatie. Hij wordt nu dus definitief CEO.

Oswald Schmid (°1959) joined Bekaert on 1 December 2019. On 12 May 2020, he took the helm as interim CEO and on 12 March 2021 was nominated CEO by the Board of Directors. Oswald began his career with Semperit in 1984, before moving to Continental in 1990 as Head of Purchasing. In 2002, Oswald Schmid joined Schindler as Head of Purchasing & Strategic Sourcing and held various CEO as well as area management positions. From 2013 on he served as a member of the Group Executive Committee of Schindler, responsible for Europe North & East and the Supply Chain Europe. Subsequently he was President Global New Installations Business and Supply Chain. In 2017 he moved to the Kalle Group to become CEO and managing director. Oswald also provides advisory services and is a member of the Supervisory Board of Wienerberger.

Oswald Schmid, Austrian, holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences of Vienna.
